My second spiritual mom was Rita Evans, who was in my
life for over 35 years. Her knowledge of the Bible was astounding. She was one of the most real and humble women of God I have ever known. She was a great example to me and to my entire family. My grandchildren just loved her. When I was with her, it was like a breath of fresh air. Even though she’s now in Heaven, her words and her ways still come to my remembrance. You can see that I’ve had the best of the best to raise me up in the Lord.
One of the greatest miracles Jesus has given us is our children. They are such a blessing in our life, no matter what stage of life they’re in. My children are grown and married and have given me seven wonderful grandchildren. I’m blessed that both of my daughters, Dawn and Trish, are wonderful mothers, raising up their children in God’s Word and His ways, and I am filled with joy and peace watching my grandkids grow up loving Jesus and serving Him.
A Bible hero I learned a lot from during my battle with cancer was David.
God has been so good to me to give me a wonderful husband; a loving, godly family; great fathers and mothers in the faith; and awesome examples from spiritual leaders on how to live a victorious life and be pleasing to Him. I am grateful.
2 SAMUEL 23:8
These be the names of the mighty men whom David had...
Something happened to those discontented and distressed men who gathered to David. The Word says these were the “mighty men” David had. We know about the struggles David was having himself, and then the men with their problems were added to his situation. I think David is just like us.

Just a few hours later, Kenneth Copeland talked with
These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.
Mark and said he had
At my age now, this scripture especially comes alive in me.
I am very thankful that my marriage has always been number one in my life. I’ve been married 45 years in 2015. Have there been as many issues as there are years of marriage? Yes! But Mark and I have always made our marriage a top priority. There’s enough to deal with in ministry without having to
deal with one another. As I thought about this verse, I realized that following my husband’s leadership has leaped into the heavenly realm, rising far above all earthly, petty, selfish, and fleshly excuses for not wanting to let my husband lead.
heard from Dodie that I was in the hospital having
surgery. He wanted to agree with us in prayer. Mark told him we were waiting to share our healing testimony. Kenneth told him to give me Nahum 1:9! That was the third time. When I came out of surgery
and my husband told me this, I was even more certain there would be no cancer found in my lymph nodes. And there wasn’t. Glory be
My daughter Dawn once told me that she thought our marriage was a storybook marriage. She didn’t think she could ever achieve that same kind of marriage. I explained that it takes a lot of God, a lot of prayer, and a lot of work. She is glad to report, after many years of marriage and four children later, she is well on her way.
to God! Thank you, Dodie, for always being there for me.
I believe he had to make some choices. After all, he was a leader.
I want to mention a few things that might have gone on in the cave where they were camped. These are a few of the things I did when I was believing God for healing, and I believe David had to do these also:
1. I think David remembered what he was called to do. 2. I believe he practiced the presence of the Lord.
3. David remembered his past victories.
4. He decided not to focus on his circumstances.
5. He asked God to reveal His plan.
6. He used his faith.
7. He became willing to obey God.
8. He started holding on to sound words.
9. He started encouraging himself in the Lord.
