In 32 days, the cancer was dead and gone. We rejoice in the victory over this killer. We are thankful for all the medical people who were there for us. We will boast in the Lord, our God, for His healing miracle. Since that day of victory over cancer and death, I have told people that Jesus is a “killer.” He kills cancer! He also heals our body.
Whenever I feel discouraged or overwhelmed with daily duties and challenges, Vickie is always there to encourage me and tell me I can do it and that God will show me the way. What a strength she is to me. No matter how many miles or continents between us, I can feel her strength. I respect and admire all preachers’ wives who stand so strong and pay such a dear price
Vickie is not “Superwoman,” but she is a super woman. I have seen her cry. I have seen her when her feelings were hurt yet got a grip more quickly than most. I have seen her when she is angry. I have seen her when I have made her angry ☺. I have seen her while fighting sickness. I have seen her when she is feeling weak and falls into my arms for strength, and I have seen her strong and bold as a lion. I personally wish every woman on the planet could meet her. I wish every man’s daughter could turn out to be just like her.
Vickie and I are asked all the time how we beat this horrible enemy. We say that we prayed the prayer of Hezekiah (2 Kings 20:1-6). “Lord, Mark and I are not fake. We are not pretenders, and we don’t just preach the gospel—we live the gospel. Judge us, and may we not be found lacking or wanting. Lord, if we have served You honorably and properly, let me live and not die. Add years to my life. If not, I will see You soon in Heaven.”
to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Vickie clung to the God of the tithe. Many times through the years we have found ourselves calling upon the Almighty God of the tithe. You know, tithers’ rights. “God, if we have honored You with the tithe (Heb. 7, Matt. 23:23, Gen. 14:20, etc.); then keep Your Word, and rebuke this devourer called cancer. He did! Thirty-two days after hearing, “This cancer is deadly, aggressive, invasive, and spreading, and kills most women,” we were told, “There is no cancer to be found anywhere in Vickie’s body!”
I have been married to this woman for over 45 years. She is my finest disciple. She has no vices or sin. She has no fakeness in her at all. What you see in the public is what you get in private. Vickie shows no fear. She is just not afraid of you or what you think about her. She is not afraid to travel, even on her own. She has no fear about traveling into foreign lands. She shows no fear of the future. She hates no one. She will go the extra mile (or ten) to help someone in need. One of Vickie’s attributes that I most admire is her no-nonsense view of life and ministry. She is blunt but not crude. She is straight as an arrow. She always wants to fix broken things, even if you don’t welcome her to do so. She is a relentless bloodhound if God puts her on your path. She will tell you the truth in love. She will pray for you. She will cut no corners for you. She will not condemn you, but there is no way she will condone any misbehavior or sin in your life.
Vickie has earned the right to be a spiritual mother to many and has a multitude of daughters in the faith. Her daily devotional has brought insight and strength to many. She now spends much of her time ministering to other women who fight deadly giants. Her preaching ministry in other churches and conferences has straightened out many crooked paths and always brings biblical insight. Her practical approach to life stabilizes not only our family but many others.
Vickie is a well-balanced mixture of a real, down-to-earth woman and a spiritual fighter for the family. You don’t ever have to try to locate where she is coming from or what she wants to tell you. She is very opinionated yet will follow my final decision to the tee, even if it’s different from hers. I have watched God answer her as she prayed over our kids and grandkids. Many things have turned in the right direction because she cried out to God and spoke the Word over our family. God answers her prayers.
Some people thought Vickie was in denial about her initial report; but the truth is, she felt from the beginning that God would heal her. She seldom ever wept over this. It was like God had placed her in a “faith and peace bubble,” and no one could get her outside of that to worry and fret. What a woman! What a warrior! She is a champion. No giant—no champion. No bat- tle—no victory.
Vickie’s children and grandchildren serve the Lord. They are sweet kids. Her husband is known in the city gates. She is an excellent first lady in our ministry. She lives without sin. She pretends to be nothing she’s not. She tries to be nobody else.
I have run all over this globe— preaching, praying, and prophesying —and Vickie always stands strong behind me and beside me.
Vickie is a breath of fresh air and a life changer. I will spend my life honoring her and holding her. I will spend my life sharing her with many other people, just like she has done with me. If you ever meet my Vickie, you will never regret it.
