the best way to curse people is to make them a depend- ent of the local church rather than a dependent of God. The prophet did not say,“Stay right here. I will go see what I have in the ministry treasury and bring you something to help you.” No, he said just the opposite. He told her to go find what she had in her house and bring it to him. As she obeyed, it set her up to see God move on her behalf and open the windows of Heaven.
5. She obeyed what the prophet told her to do, even though it made no sense to borrow “empty” jars.
She actually obeyed what the prophet said. In my many years of preaching and pastoring God’s people, I find that most people do not get full benefit from the preaching of the Word of God and the move of God in their life because they somehow never get around to obeying what we preach from the Word of God, being hearers only and not doers. We all have learned where this takes us—nowhere!
Many times it is extremely difficult to obey what the preacher says, but Father knows best (speaking of our heavenly Father). Many times God has told me difficult things to tell people, knowing that it would be difficult for them to obey such assignments and instructions; yet as they did, the windows of Heaven opened for them, and God blessed them tremendously. Obedience always creates an atmosphere for miracles.
6. It couldn’t have been easy for her to take the little bit of oil she had and pour it into the other jars.
As a young man, I watched my mama suffer greatly, trying to believe in enough money to take care of us four Barclay boys. She was also a widow. When you are poor, it is not easy to pour out what you have. It is extremely difficult to see what God might have for you instead of only what you have in your hand. This woman told the prophet she had nothing. Then she corrected herself and said she had a lit- tle bit of oil. You can’t have both—nothing and a little bit—at the same time. This foul spirit of poverty will teach us that because we don’t have enough (or a lot), we have nothing. This can lead us to believe that we are nothing.
7. As long as she was pouring, Heaven was pouring; but when she stopped, the divine, supernatural supply from Heaven also stopped.
I love this part! As long as she was pouring out what she had, trusting God, Heaven poured out
a supernatural multiplication
of her oil. But when she
stopped pouring, Heaven also stopped multiply- ing—one tremendous lesson for all of us.

Invasion youth conferences ... they’ve always made an impact, even from the start. Although well worth the effort, they’ve also always been a lot of work! But with growing budgets and declining participation over the past several years, I had come to the place where I felt the season for hosting this conference may have come to a close. However, as I travel around the country, I keep hearing from youth (some now grown up) that they have been set free and their life set on course at an Invasion conference.
God has been dealing with me that, despite the obstacles, it is still crucial and vital to reach the next generation and create a place for them to receive direction and a life-changing touch from God. We don’t want to turn our back on the young people now—they are the future of the Church, and it’s important for all of us to invest in them. So Invasion 2013 is a go.
You can get involved by attending, sending your youth, sowing toward the budget, and praying and standing in faith with me that this summer’s conference will be the best we’ve ever had and that we will see changed lives by the power of God and the outpouring of His Spirit. Don’t let your young people miss it.
