RESURRECTED BUT STILL BOUND
Just like Lazarus was resurrected but still bound in grave- clothes and still had the stench of fermented oils and perfumed ointments, I was the same way. In fact, I believe that all converts are the same way. They are truly born again but still bound. Inside they are new but outwardly still live the life of the past. This is not the will of God for anyone. Jesus wants us made totally whole, inside and out.

Jesus didn’t command the graveclothes to fall off Lazarus. He commanded the family and disciples to do it. This is why it is so important that we get new converts in the house of God as soon as possible. This is why they need a pastor and Christian friends as soon as possible. My first church never condemned me and never discarded me. Instead they took me on as a spiritual project. I didn’t know at the time that they were just following orders from Jesus. They were just doing their ministry and loving it—their ministry of setting people free. They sure helped a guy like me. I am so grateful to this day that they were not a smoking, drinking church. I would most likely still be bound. Born again, yes, but still bound in my graveclothes.

Never settle for a “converts only” walk with my Jesus. You keep pressing into His system of growth. Continue to follow Him night and day; and His grace, His Word, and His church will set you free from all graveclothes.
If you’re not yet baptized, pursue it as soon as possible. We are baptized for the remission of that old sinful nature. We are water baptized to make a public declaration of our new walk with Christ. We are water baptized to follow the example of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Praise God. I am a witness of this powerful freedom— freedom from the grave, the graveclothes, and the worldly bondages that so badly hurt our life. Convert, epistle, disciple, and able minister of the New Testament—that’s the progress Jesus has in store for all who are born again.
